Start the new year watching beautiful birds – Karnataka Bird Festival

Bird watching is a popular activity, especially during the winters as birdwatchers try to get a glimpse of the many migratory birds. One such Important Bird Area in the country area is the BRT Tiger Reserve in Karnataka. This is going to be the venue for the seventh edition of the Karnataka Bird Festival. It is being organized jointly with the Karnataka Forest Department and Jungle Lodges & Resorts Ltd.

Biligiri Ranganathaswamy Temple Tiger Reserve which is also known as the BR Hills is known for the biodiversity that it harbors. This forest reserve has a mixture of deciduous, evergreen, and grassland types of vegetation and therefore home to a diverse range of animals and birds. It is also a well-known destination for birdwatchers.
There are more than 270 species of birds that inhabit the area. The Black Eagle, Scarlet Minivet, Velvet-fronted nuthatch, Rufous-bellied Eagle, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, several species of woodpeckers, drongos, Lorikeet, Plum-headed Parakeet, Blue – bearded bee-eater, and Malabar Whistling Thrush are some of the birds seen in this reserve.

The Karnataka Bird Festival 2021 will be held from 5th – 7th January 2021 in the BRT Tiger Reserve. Talks, by eminent speakers, presentations, and bird-watching walks are the main aspects of this three-day-long festival.
