TungaBhadra Dam

TungaBhadra Dam (TB Dam) is a multipurpose dam built across TungaBhadra River in Hosapete, Ballari district. TB Dam has several attractions for visitors. Most tourists visiting Hampi include a stopover at TB Dam.

Tunga Bhadra reservoir has a storage capacity of 101 TMC with catchment area spreading to 28000 square kms. TB Dam is about 49.5 meters in height and has about 33 crest gates.

Attractions at TB Dam

Sound and Light Show: TB Dam is a visual treat to watch when illuminated with rainbow colours at night. Water from each of the 33 crest gates is given different colours. TB Dam lighting is held each day between 7.15 PM till 8.30 PM. Exceptions may appear in case of public holidays or when water level is low.

Gardens: Well maintained gardens near TB Dam is a good place to relax.

Places to visit near Dam: Hampi, 18 kms away is a must visit when in Hosapete.

How to reach TungaBhadra: TungaBhadra dam is 330 kms from Bengaluru. Jindal Vijayanagara airport is 40 kms away. Hosapete railway station is 6 kms away from TB Dam. Auto or taxi can be hired from Hosapete to reach TB Dam.
