A Guide to Yediyur Siddhalingeshwara Swamy Temple
The Yediyur Siddhalingeshwara Swamy temple is a famous temple of lord Siddhalingeshwara. It is located on the National Highway of Mangalore- Bangalore. The temple is situated in the Kunigal town of Tumkur district. It has the samadhi of Tonda Siddhalinga, a great saint from the late 15th century.
History
The architect of the temple is beautifully carved and eye-catching. The little details on the bells, jewels, and vessels, add beauty to the temple. The temple has a chariot and some inscriptions, determining the spiritual greatness of the Sage.
It is said that Shri Siddhalinga Swamy was not born out of the mother’s womb but appeared as an infant child to a childless couple. He was a great spiritual teacher and used to travel across due to his preachings, which has gathered several disciples. The disciples have written on Lingayat faith and philosophy based on his teaching. Sri Siddhalingeshwara Swamy is also known as Sharana Sage. A renowned teacher and author. People believe that he is the incarnation of lord shiva and has the power to cure the problems of all people from different religions.
Every year the temple organizes the 15 days long Jathara starting from the seventh-day after Ugadi (March-April) according to the Hindu calendar. The Jathara is performed to remember the samadhi of Shri Siddhalingeshwara Swamy. During the Mahashivratri a grand festival known as Sahasra Rudrabhishekam is performed with great devotion and excitement.

The temple opens from 4:30 am to 8:30 pm. The temple also serves free food to the visitors and accommodation facilities.

By Road: Yediyur Siddhalingeshwara temple is well connected by the roads of Karnataka. You can board a bus from Bangalore to reach the temple. The distance between them is 95km.
By Air: Take a flight from Delhi to Bangalore and then hire a taxi from the airport to reach the temple.
