World Bird Migratory Day is an annual awareness campaign celebrated on October 9th. The day is marked to highlight the need to conserve the migratory Birds and their ecosystems. It aims to generate awareness about the threats faced by these species and promote ways to help and maintain ecological balance.

Each year, World Migratory Bird Day is organised with a unique theme focusing on different aspects of conservation. The theme of 2021 is ‘Sing, Fly, Soar – Like A Bird’. This theme acts as a call for people across the globe to use their voices to amplify the need for international cooperation to conserve migratory birds and their habitats. This can be done by putting our social media accounts to good use. The theme also focuses on appreciating birds and their habitats in different parts of the country.

India, being a hotspot for wildlife, is home to various migratory Birds. Karnataka is one such State with several bird sanctuaries and conservation centres, where several migratory Birds have found homely comfort, providing them a safe habitat. These sanctuaries are a haven for Bird lovers, allowing them to spend some time with different Bird species. If you are looking for the most popular Bird sanctuaries, here are a few names – Ghataprabha Bird Sanctuary, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Gudavi Bird Sanctuary, Magadi Bird Sanctuary, Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary, and Bonal Bird Sanctuary.

Besides visiting these natural paradises, you can celebrate World Migratory Bird Day in various other ways as well. Each year, numerous public events, bird festivals, education programmes, and exhibitions are organised in different parts of the world. You can become a part of these events and contribute to the global campaign.

So, this World Migratory Bird Day, take a step to conserve Birds and their habitats. Its time we put our best efforts to provide these species with a safe and thriving environment.

After all, a collective effort can pave the way for great causes like these.
