Introduction and Context

Karnataka Tourism established a strong presence at Tourism Expo Japan 2025 (TEJ) in Tokyo, reinforcing its commitment to the East Asian market. This event is globally recognized as one of the largest and most significant travel trade shows.

The Expo spanned four crucial days. The first two days (September 25th–26th) were exclusively focused on essential B2B interactions with travel trade professionals and media, while the remaining two days (September 27th–28th) were open to the general public.

The 2025 edition underscored the event’s global relevance, featuring over 1,600 exhibitors and welcoming an impressive total attendance of 180,000+ people. Crucially, this number included over 70,000 travel professionals and media, making it an ideal platform for global outreach.

Key Highlights and Global Participation

Delegation and Leadership Presence

The Government of Karnataka ensured a high-level representation to attract Japanese travelers and investment.

The attending officials were:

  • Mr. Akram Pasha, IAS – Commissioner, Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka.
  • Mr. Srinivasa M – Chairman, Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).
  • Mr. Janardhan HP – Joint Director, Department of Tourism, Govt. of Karnataka.
  • Mr. Shivaputra – PS to the Hon’ble Tourism Minister.

The delegation also included representatives from key state entities like Jungle Lodges & Resorts Ltd. and KSTDC Ltd.

The Karnataka Pavilion Focus

Karnataka Tourism set up a dedicated stand of 36 sq. mts, designed to reflect the compelling theme: “Timeless Trails of Karnataka – Culture, Faith & the Wild.”

The pavilion successfully showcased:

  • Architectural marvels, including the historic ruins of Hampi.
  • The magnificent Chennakeshava Temple in Belur.
  • Spiritual landmarks such as the Namdroling Monastery.
  • The state’s abundant wildlife and nature offerings.

The exhibition’s content was built to foster strong B2B interactions, helping the delegation secure partnerships aimed at increasing sustainable travel to Karnataka.

Travel Trade Collaboration

The private travel trade sector from Karnataka actively participated, collaborating closely at the stand. These co-exhibitors included:

  • Jungle Lodges & Resorts
  • Orchid Tours and Travels
  • Mysore International Travels
  • Rio Meridian Hotel

The four-day participation generated a significant number of quality business leads from the East Asian market. The Karnataka stand recorded a total of 146 attendees.
