A Peaceful Coffee Retreat in the Western Ghats

Overview

Sakleshpur is a hidden gem in Karnataka’s Malnad region. It offers a tranquil escape. Find sprawling coffee, tea, and spice plantations here. It is known for lush greenery. The climate is pleasant and cool. This destination is a haven for peace and natural beauty. The Western Ghats provide a dramatic backdrop. These verdant landscapes await.

What Makes It Special

  • A haven of misty plantations and forested trails, great for offbeat travellers.
  • Beyond coffee, these plantations are often dotted with:
    • Pepper
    • Cardamom
    • Tea
  • Home to both Arabica and Robusta coffee estates, often intercropped with spices and fruit trees
  • A mix of adventure and relaxation, with nearby treks, waterfalls, and estate homestays
  • Unlike commercial resorts, Sakleshpur’s plantation stays often feel intimate and unfiltered, giving you a close look at local life and farming traditions.

Things to Do

  • Walk through rain-drenched coffee estates, often accompanied by estate owners
  • Visit Manjarabad Fort, a star-shaped fort with panoramic valley views
  • Go on day hikes to Jenukal Gudda or Agni Gudda, both surrounded by plantations
  • Relax in cozy estate stays, often with firewood kitchens and local Malnad meals
