Lalbagh Flower Show 2026: A Floral Tribute to Poornachandra Tejaswi

Experience the 219th Republic Day Lalbagh Flower Show 2026

Bengaluru’s most awaited horticultural extravaganza is back! The Lalbagh Flower Show, a flagship event of Karnataka’s cultural calendar, has officially opened its gates for the 219th edition. Organized by the Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticulture Society, this year’s Republic Day show is a vibrant tribute to nature, literature, and heritage.

Running from January 14th to January 26th, 2026, the show transforms the historic Glass House into a living canvas of colors and creativity. Whether you are a botany enthusiast, a literature lover, or a family looking for a perfect day out, here is everything you need to know about this floral spectacle.

Theme 2026: “Tejaswi-Vismaya” – The Wonder of Tejaswi

This year’s show is unique as it bridges the gap between the literary and natural worlds. The central theme, “Tejaswi – Vismaya” (The Wonder of Tejaswi), honors the legendary Kannada writer, environmentalist, and photographer, K.P. Poornachandra Tejaswi.

Tejaswi rooted his work deeply in the Western Ghats and the mysteries of nature, and the flower show reflects this beautifully.

  • Glass House Centerpiece: The main attraction inside the Glass House is a massive floral installation depicting scenes from Tejaswi’s life and works, including a replica of his iconic house, ‘Niruttara’, and a floral mountain representing his bond with the Western Ghats.
  • Literary Characters Come Alive: Visitors can view floral recreations of characters from his acclaimed novel Karvalo (Carvalho), brought to life using lakhs of flowers, including the famous flying lizard.

Wild Fruits Exhibition: In line with Tejaswi’s curiosity for biodiversity, a special section showcases 300 varieties of wild fruits (both edible and non-edible) sourced from forests across Karnataka, including the rare 1.5-meter-long Entada giant bean.
