Connect 2025: Gadag Chapter was held on 31st October 2025 at Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development Panchayat Raj University, bringing together tourism stakeholders from Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, Raichur, Koppal, Vijayanagara, and Bellary.
Organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka and the Karnataka Tourism Society (KTS), the event served as an interactive platform for local representatives, policymakers, and industry leaders to exchange ideas and align efforts toward making Karnataka the country’s leading tourism destination.

Engaging the Districts
The afternoon began with an invocation and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Presentations from KTS and the Department of Tourism highlighted key initiatives under the Tourism Policy 2024–2029, focusing on infrastructure, responsible tourism, and stakeholder participation.

Government representatives—including the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Tourism, and Secretary, Tourism Department—spoke about regional opportunities and the role of collaboration in strengthening Karnataka’s tourism circuits.
The Minister’s Address: Heritage and Growth Together
Delivering the keynote, Shri H.K. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Justice, Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs & Legislation, and Tourism, called for a shared commitment to balance growth with heritage preservation.

“Tourism is not just about destinations; it is about people, culture, and shared experiences. It is about connecting hearts and creating livelihoods,” he said.
He described Karnataka as a state of extraordinary diversity—from the beaches of Karwar to the temples of Gadag and Lakkundi, and the ruins of Hampi – each region contributing to the idea of One State, Many Worlds.

Policy Priorities: Connect, Empower, Sustain
The Minister outlined the state’s four priorities under the Tourism Policy 2024–2029:
- Infrastructure and Connectivity – Better roads, digital mapping, and last-mile facilities to improve access.
- Responsible and Inclusive Tourism – Engaging local communities, empowering youth and women, and ensuring rural participation.
- Promotion and Partnerships – Encouraging collaboration between the government, private sector, and Karnataka Tourism Society.
- Innovation and Sustainability – Adopting eco-friendly practices and digital tools to appeal to modern travellers.
Gadag’s Place in Karnataka’s Tourism Map
Speakers and participants emphasized Gadag’s role as a heritage hub surrounded by cultural landmarks like Trikuteshwara Temple, Veeranarayana Temple, and Lakkundi. The district’s location – between Hampi and Badami – makes it an ideal link in Karnataka’s northern tourism circuit.
Discussions focused on building better connectivity, developing guided heritage trails, and supporting local entrepreneurs through training and community-based tourism initiatives.

Stakeholder Interaction
The interactive session saw open discussions among hotel owners, travel operators, and artisans. Participants shared ideas on digital promotion, infrastructure needs, and skill development for youth. Officials assured that these insights would inform district-level action plans and future tourism development proposals.
Strengthening Collaboration
Throughout the event, emphasis was placed on making the Karnataka Tourism Society a strong collective voice for the industry. Shri Patil urged stakeholders to engage actively with KTS to create an ecosystem of cooperation and innovation.
“Together, we can make the Karnataka Tourism Society a dynamic force that promotes destinations and nurtures sustainable growth,” he said.
Moving Forward
The Connect 2025: Gadag Chapter concluded with a shared sense of purpose – to align local aspirations with Karnataka’s tourism goals, ensuring that growth remains inclusive and respectful of heritage.
