Ghataprabha Bird Sanctuary
Situated near Kolhapur-Nargund Road, Ghataprabha Bird Sanctuary is one of the most-visited attractions in the region. It is enclosed by the mighty Ghataprabha River and emerged in over 22 Islands. This 29.78 Sq. Km region is home to more than 225 bird species from different parts of the country.
While European White Stock and the Demoiselle Crane are the most popular migratory Birds in the region, there are several Endemic Birds and Avifauna as well. Some of these include Peacock, Egrets, Lesser Pied, Snakebird, and Stocks as well. Besides this, the Sanctuary also has a variety of Snakes, Jackals, Mongoose, Hares, and other animal species.
