A hill of wisdom and devotion

Perched on a rocky hilltop in the Mandya district, Melukote is a serene pilgrimage town known for its Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple and scholarly traditions. Once a spiritual retreat for Sri Ramanujacharya, the town still resonates with ancient chants and timeless rituals.

A temple town with soul

Melukote isn’t just about shrines — it’s a living tradition. From Sanskrit schools to annual festivals like Vairamudi, this town blends spiritual energy with a scholarly atmosphere. The streets are lined with agraharas (traditional Brahmin homes), and the Kalyani (sacred tank) near the temple adds an old-world charm.

The town also preserves Karnataka’s cultural heart through classical music, handloom weaving, and heritage cuisine, including its famed puliyogare.
