The Festival of Lights, Diwali is indeed one of the most popular Festivals in the country. It is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm every year. People adorn their homes with flowers, diyas, and lights to welcome prosperity and wealth. Making colourful rangolis at the entrance is another significant part of this major Festival. While most of the aspects remain the same in the North Indian and South Indian Diwali celebrations, there are certain differences as well. For instance, in the northern part, Diwali is observed to celebrate the homecoming of Lord Rama after 14 years of exile and his victory over Ravana. On the other hand, in southern parts, it is to mark the death of asura Narakasura by Lord Krishna.

Grand pujas are organised in various temples for the Lakshmi Puja. These temples are decorated with lights, lamps, colourful rangoli, and flowers to add the festive vibe. Besides this, there are several cultural programmes and competitions during the entire festival week. Also, in the coastal parts of Karnataka, people also worship king Bali on this auspicious day.The occasion of Diwali brings lots of happiness and luck to everyone’s lives.
