Our Vision
Since time immemorial, nature in all its glory has been at the centre of the human being's wanderlust. Even when humans stopped being nomadic and settled down in one place, their innate desire to travel and have communion with nature to experience joy, peace of mind, and recharge was not diminished and it gave birth to the concept of tourism.
It is said that the act of journeying fills one's soul with grace, while reading nourishes the mind, deepening one's inner world. Together, these two pursuits intertwine, working in harmony to refine and strengthen an individual's character.
Karnataka is blessed with a variety of breathtaking and captivating places. We have the best of scenic lush green forests with flora, fauna, wildlife, enchanting waterfalls, and thrilling beaches along a long coastline that deserves to be showcased. We have architectural and archaeological masterpieces and important places of worship of different faiths.
This very universal truth with firm belief in happiness, joy, and learning through seeing places and experiencing their stories is at the heart of Karnataka.
Karnataka Tourism Policy Objectives
To ensure beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders of Karnataka Tourism, the Government of Karnataka shall endeavour to ensure the following-
Promote Karnataka as an attractive tourism destination on the domestic and global map by offering world-class experiences through a diverse array of high-quality tourism products and services, making Karnataka Tourism a source of pride for the people of Karnataka.
Develop tourism as a significant driver of inclusive socio-economic development, promoting social equality, women and youth empowerment, and rural development to boost employment.
Create a tourist-centric ecosystem, ensuring a safe, satisfying, and memorable visit for all visitors by developing robust tourism infrastructure, providing essential tourism amenities, and enhancing service quality.
Facilitate the adoption of sustainable and responsible tourism practices while making access to tourism for all, ensuring local communities and the common person benefits from tourism activities.
Realise the potential of tourism to create communal harmony, peace, and enlightenment and promote tourism as a means of learning.
Drive the recognition, conservation, adoption, and promotion of heritage assets, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and the realization of their tourism value.
Promote spiritual tourism, enlightenment, inner peace, and communal harmony by highlighting Karnataka's rich spiritual heritage, religious diversity, and sacred sites through responsible tourism.
Position Karnataka as a top coastal tourism destination by developing sustainable infrastructure, enriching visitor experiences, showcasing its coastal heritage, preserving ecosystems, and involving local communities in tourism.
Develop Karnataka as a hub for cultural and experiential tourism, promoting the State's diverse traditions, festivals, crafts, and cuisines to enhance the visitor experience and drive local economic development.
Promote stakeholder collaboration and investor-friendly policies to boost tourism in Karnataka and attract private sector investments, making it a preferred tourism investment destination.
Promote climate-resilient tourism practices to ensure the long-term sustainability of Karnataka's tourism assets, boosting eco-friendly initiatives that minimize environmental impact on the marketing community-based tourism.
Develop a skilled workforce for the travel, tourism, and hospitality sector by providing targeted skill development and training, gainful employment, career growth and the creation of a robust talent pool.
Promote research, analytics, and innovation in tourism, leveraging Karnataka's technological potential to improve destinations, tourist services, and the overall visitor experience.
The Karnataka Tourism Policy shall also be aligned with the overall implementation of the Karnataka Tourism Trade (Facilitation and Regulation) Act, 2019.
